Most keyboards tell the computer what they are doing a thousand times a second. This one does it eight thousand times, over the cable, driven by an ARM Cortex-M4. In practice the gap between the key moving and the character appearing stops being something you can notice — which is the whole reason to give up wireless for a cable.
Every socket is hot-swappable and takes both 3-pin and 5-pin MX-style switches, so the feel of the board is not fixed at the moment you buy it. The Keychron Super and Apex switches ship with it; anything from Cherry, Gateron or Kailh drops straight in.
The board runs open-source QMK firmware and is configured through the Keychron Launcher web app — remap a key, record a macro, build a second layer, all from the browser with nothing to install. Because the firmware is open, what the keyboard does with your keystrokes can be read by anyone who wants to check.
Double-shot PBT in the OSA profile — an OEM height with a spherical dish, so the fingertip sits in the key rather than on it. Double-shot means the legends are a second piece of plastic rather than paint, and PBT resists the shine ABS picks up with use. They are not shine-through, so the backlight comes up around the caps rather than through them.
A switch on the board moves it between macOS and Windows, and the extra keycaps for the modifier keys that differ are in the box. Set a keymap for each system in the Launcher and moving between them costs nothing.
Flip-out feet give three typing angles; the exact figures are in the specification below, because they differ between the two sizes. On a board you use all day, the difference between the right angle and the wrong one is felt in the wrists.
