96%: the number pad, without the desk
The 96% layout pushes the number pad, the arrows and the navigation keys tight against the alphas instead of separating them. You keep everything a full-size board has and give back around six centimetres of width — which is the space the mouse was going to need.
Hall-effect switches, and what they change
A mechanical switch closes a contact — down, or not down, at a point the factory chose. A Gateron Double-Rail magnetic switch carries a magnet and a sensor measures how far it has travelled. The board knows the depth of every key at every instant, and every feature below is a consequence of that.
Dynamic rapid trigger, LKP and snap click
Actuation is set per key from 0.2 to 3.8 mm at 0.1 mm resolution. Dynamic rapid trigger arms and releases a key on how far it has moved rather than at a fixed point, so a press registers immediately and resets on the way up. Last-key priority makes the most recent of two opposing direction keys win; snap click lets the deeper of two simultaneous presses take over. Both are off until you switch them on in the Launcher.
One key, four actions — and an analogue mode
Dynamic keystrokes put up to four separate commands on a single key at four depths: a light press does one thing, a deeper press another, the release a third. Analogue mode goes further and sends a variable value instead of on or off, so how far you press decides how fast the car accelerates or how far the character leans.
Aluminium and wood, on a tray mount
An aluminium and wood frame over an ABS bottom case, with an aluminium plate on a tray mount, at about 1066 g. Three typing angles — 5°, 8° and 11° — which is a steeper range than most, and welcome on a board with a number pad.
Hot-swappable, double-rail only
Switches lift out and push in without a soldering iron. The constraint to know before ordering: the K4 HE takes Gateron Double-Rail magnetic switches only — the Gateron Magnetic Jade and KS-20 do not fit, and magnetic switches are not cross-compatible the way MX-style mechanical ones are.
North-facing RGB, 22 modes and more
Twenty-two or more backlight modes, with hue, saturation, brightness and effect speed all set in the Launcher. The keycaps are OSA profile double-shot PBT and are not shine-through, so the light frames the caps rather than passing through the legends.
Mac and Windows on one board
A system toggle moves the board between macOS and Windows, the extra modifier keycaps for both are in the box, and a separate layout is stored on the keyboard for each — so the switch is a flick, not a remapping session.
