Keychron
Lightweight 4K wireless mouse
The 4000 Hz version of the M3: the PixArt 3395 sensor, 79 grams, and up to 135 hours between charges.
Five polling steps from 125 Hz to 4000 Hz on 2.4 GHz, switched by a button on the mouse.
100–26 000 DPI and up to 650 IPS — more sensor than almost anything asks for.
A compact body that can be moved from the wrist for a whole day without complaint.
A 600 mAh cell at a 1000 Hz report rate, charged over USB-C.
The 4K sits deliberately between the two ends of the range. Four times the report rate of an ordinary mouse is enough that cursor movement stops looking stepped on a fast display, and it is far cheaper in power than 8000 Hz — which is why this version still reaches up to 135 hours at 1000 Hz. For most people it is the version that makes sense.
Four thousand hertz needs a receiver built for it, so one is supplied. Plug it into a Type-A port and the mouse is on 2.4 GHz immediately; there is nothing to pair and nothing to install.
The 3395 runs from 100 to 26 000 DPI and tracks to 650 IPS. Lift-off distance can be set to 1.0 or 2.0 mm, which is the setting that decides whether the cursor drifts when you pick the mouse up and put it back down again.
The curve of the shell and the textured panels on both flanks let the mouse be lifted with a light hand. It is a small thing that turns into a large one somewhere in the fourth hour.
Buttons, DPI steps, report rate and lift-off distance are set in the Keychron Launcher web app and written to one of five profiles stored in the mouse. The screen below is the Engine desktop app this generation originally shipped with; the browser-based Launcher has since taken over the same job on Windows, macOS and Linux alike.
