A 47-degree vertical body that takes the twist out of the forearm, with the flagship PixArt 3950 sensor and 0.93 ms measured latency.
A flat mouse asks the forearm to rotate and hold that rotation all day. The M5 stands the body up at 47°, close to the angle the hand takes when it hangs loose, with a curve running the length of it and a thumb rest on the side. The palm settles into the shape rather than pressing down on it.

Ergonomic mice usually trade away sensor quality. The 8K version of the M5 does not: it carries the PixArt 3950, 100 to 30 000 DPI, up to 750 IPS, lift-off distance settable at 0.7, 1.0 or 2.0 mm, and it reads glass. The 1K version uses the PixArt 3311, 100 to 12 000 DPI and up to 300 IPS, which is the right amount of sensor for office work.
At 8000 Hz the mouse reports its position eight thousand times a second — once every 0.125 ms. Measured end to end on 2.4 GHz, LTT Labs put the M5 at 0.93 ms, which is why it can be pointed at fast work and not only at comfortable work. The rate is switched on the mouse, without software.
The main wheel does the ordinary job — pages, documents, lists. The second wheel sits on the flank under the thumb and scrolls horizontally, so a spreadsheet that runs off the right of the screen, or a video timeline, moves without reaching for a scrollbar.
The all-silent build uses Huano silent micro switches on every button. The click is still crisp under the finger — it simply is not audible across the room, which matters in an open office, a shared room, or a call.
Published figures for the 8K version: up to 40 h with 2.4 GHz at 8000 Hz, up to 120 h at 1000 Hz, and up to 140 h on Bluetooth. The 1K version reaches up to 100 h on Bluetooth. Charging is over USB-C and the mouse keeps working on the cable.
A button underneath moves between three paired Bluetooth devices — a desktop, a laptop and a tablet, say — and DPI and polling rate are changed on the mouse itself, with no software on the machine.
Keychron Launcher is a web page, not an installer. Open it in Chrome, Edge or Opera with the mouse on the cable or the 2.4 GHz receiver, remap the buttons, record macros, set DPI steps, polling rate and lift-off distance, and write it to one of five profiles stored in the mouse. Nothing to download, and it works the same on Windows, macOS and Linux.
Straight into a Type-A port on a laptop, or through the supplied extension adapter so it sits on the desk beside the mouse instead of behind a tower.
