Magnetic, not mechanical
There is no metal contact under these keys. A magnet in the stem moves past a sensor, and the board reads the distance rather than a click — so nothing wears out from being pressed, and the point at which a key counts as pressed becomes a setting rather than a property of the hardware.
0.2 to 3.8 millimetres
Set the actuation point per key, in steps of a tenth of a millimetre. Shallow on the keys you game with, so they fire almost on contact; deeper on the ones you keep hitting by accident. Rapid trigger resets a key the instant it starts to rise, which is what makes repeated presses keep up with the hand.
One switch family, and only one
The sockets are hot-swappable, but worth knowing before you buy: this board takes the Gateron double-rail magnetic switch and nothing else. Gateron Magnetic Jade and KS-20 do not fit, and no ordinary MX switch will work, because the board reads magnets rather than contacts.
Aluminium case, aluminium plate
Four kilograms. The case is machined from solid copper top and bottom, with an aluminium plate on a double-gasket mount. Copper is denser than aluminium and darkens with handling, so the board gains a patina that is particular to whoever owns it.
Set it all in the browser
Actuation points, rapid trigger, the dynamic keystroke layers and the key map are all configured in the Keychron Launcher web app, with nothing to download and nothing to install.
